Club Meeting Notes

The October 28th Club Meeting was called to order at 7:06am by Club President Kim Jennison. Club members present were: Kim, Carolyn, Gerry, Sue, Molly, Dave, Brian, Dan, and Frank. We had two guests present: Patty Nickerson and Chip Stiles.

Carolyn passed around information about the upcoming District Fall Conference.

President Kim reviewed recent club activities: working the concession stand at the Whittemore Center on October 17th, October 24th, and October 25th, and the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen on October 24th.

Our next club project is the Kittery Halloween Celebration this Saturday- October 31st from 11am-3pm.

Frank announced that the Holiday Parade in Kittery had been approved for Saturday- Dec. 5th. The theme for the parade will be "Christmas on the Coast".

Our guest speaker was Commander Paul Dinius of the USS Helena which is currently stationed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for repair and overhaul. Commander Dinius spoke about the role of submarines in the defense strategy of the United States, the different types of submarines, and what life is like for the crew on a submarine.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:15am.

International Convention

If you are thinking about attending the Kiwanis International Convention in Las Vegas in June 2010, registration is now available online. The early bird convention registration fee of $195 is available until January 31st.

Next Week's Meeting

Next Wednesday- November 4th, we have a Board Meeting at the Community Campus at 7:00am.

Kittery Halloween Celebration

The Club will be doing a free Duck Pluck game at the Kittery Halloween Celebration this Saturday- October 31st from 11:00am- 3:00pm. The event will take place at the Kittery Recreation Center at 2 Cole Street in Kittery. 

Signed up to work are:

11am-1pm: Dan, Molly, Kim, Brian

1pm-3pm: Norm, Molly, Kim, Frank

District Fall Conference

The New England District of Kiwanis will be holding its Fall Conference the weekend of November 20-22 at the North Conway Grand Hotel in North Conway. The conference will provide a number of informative sessions about membership, service projects, fund-raising, and other useful Kiwanis topics. For information about the conference and online registration, visit the district web site.
