Board Meeting Notes

The December Board Meeting was called to order at 7:03am by Club President Kim Jennison on December 2, 2009. Board members present were: Kim, Carolyn, Sally, Dave, and Brian. Other members present were Dan, Norm, Molly, Frank, Gordon, and Glen. Norm. Also present were prospective members Jon Millett and Rev. David Nolan.

Correspondence included information from the Manchester Monarchs about a Kiwanis Night being held in February.

The minutes of the November Board Meeting were read and approved.

There was no Treasurer's Report available.

Committee reports were given for Community Service, Fundraising, Service Leadership, Club Meetings, Membership, Public Relations, Youth Service, Young Children Priority One, and Human & Spiritual Values.

Under new business: 

The Board approved the membership applications of Jonathan Millett and Rev. David Nolan. Jon was sponsored by his father Gordon and Pastor Dave was sponsored by Norm.

The approved the re-allocation of $100 from the Thanksgiving Turkeys to be used towards a food donation for Christmas.

Norm announced that he was turning over the Human & Spiritual Values committee to Pastor Dave.

Norm suggested that this might to a good time to try and re-start a Builders Club at Shapleigh School in Kittery.

Pastor Dave won a chance at the 50/50 Jackpot and picked the ace of hearts. The jackpot of $135 rolls over to the next meeting.

The meeting concluded with a round of Happy Dollars and was adjourned at 7:57am.

TD Bank Affinity Program

Do you have an account with TD Bank? If you do, then you can participate in the affinity program that the New England District of Kiwanis has with TD Bank. By participating in this program, which does not cost you anything, TD Bank will donate a percentage of the average annual balance in your account to the New England District of Kiwanis. It's easy to sign up- just call or stop by your local branch and tell them that you want your account linked to the affinity program for the New England Kiwanis. The affinity code for New England Kiwanis is A1137. Checking, savings, money market, CD's, and retirement accounts are all eligible. Business accounts qualify too!

Holiday Parades

We will be busy the rest of this week getting ready for the Kittery and Portsmouth parades on Saturday. We will be working on the construction of our float on both Thursday and Friday evenings at Glen's house in Kittery starting at 6pm.

On Saturday, we need to have members at Post Office Square in Kittery starting at 1:30pm to help organize the Kittery Parade which steps off at 3:00pm. Following the Kittery Parade, we will stop off at Glen's house for refreshments and any necessary float repairs before heading to the Portsmouth Parade. We will be at the staging area at Plaza 800 between 5-5:30pm for anyone who wants to join us.

Salvation Army Bellringing

We have two dates that we will be doing bellringing for the Salvation Army during December. On Dec. 12th, we will be at the Kittery Trading Post from 9am-5pm, and on Dec. 19th, we will be at Wal*Mart on Lafayette Road in Portsmouth from 9:00am-5:00pm. 

Here is the schedule so far:

Dec. 12th: 9-11am (Dan & Gerry), 11am-1pm (Norm), 1-3pm (Gordon & Jon), 3-5pm (Gordon)

Dec. 19th: 9-11am (Dan & Molly), 11am-1pm (Norm), 1-3pm (Pastor Dave), 3-5pm (Lee & Carolyn).

If you can help with one of the shifts where only one person is signed up, please contact President Kim.

Salvation Army Soup Kitchen

Our next date to work at the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen in Portsmouth is Saturday- December 26th from 4:00-6:00pm. Please sign up at next week's meeting if you can help.
