Club Meeting Notes

The January 27th Club meeting was called to order at 7:08am by Club President Kim Jennison. Members present were: Kim, Carolyn, Sally, Sue, Dave, Gordon, Jon, Norm, Brian, Glen, Molly, and Frank.

Carolyn gave a recap of events that happened on this date in history and offered some famous quotes from Thomas Edison.

The club received the following correspondence- information about the Key Leader program and the new Kiwanis catalog.

Norm gave an update on the Pease Greeters Program.

Frank gave a report about the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen last Saturday. Club members there were Frank, Gordon, Jon, Ed, and Laura D. They served 51 people.

President Kim reminded everyone about that the club will be doing a concession stand at the Whittemore Center on Saturday night for the UNH vs. Merrimack hockey game.

Frank is working on a possible interclub trip this spring to visit the Kiwanis clubs in Division 8- St. Johnsbury, Colebrook, and Berlin.

President Kim announced that the club will be participating in Children's Day in Portsmouth on Sunday- May 2nd and Kid's Day in South Berwick on Saturday- June 5th. We will be doing our bike helmets at both events.

There was some general discussion about the upcoming District Mid-Winter Conference in Worcester in March and the International Convention in Las Vegas in June.

Molly got a chance at the 50/50 Jackpot and picked the ace of diamonds. The jackpot of $163 rolls over to the next drawing.

The meeting concluded with a round of Happy Dollars and was adjourned at 7:48am.

Scholarships

Applications for our 2010 Club Scholarships will be sent out to area high schools this week. If you know any graduating high school senior in the Seacoast area, please encourage them to apply. Applications will also be available on our web site.

Next Week

Next Wednesday- February 3rd, we will be having a morning meeting at 7:00am at the Community Campus. This will be our February Board meeting.

Salvation Army Soup Kitchen

Our next date to work at the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen in Portsmouth is Saturday- February 27th from 4:00-6:00pm. Please sign up at next week's meeting if you can help out.

Whittemore Center Concessions

We will be working the concession stands at the Whittemore Center in Durham is this Saturday- January 30th for the UNH Men's Hockey Game vs. Merrimack. We need to be there by 5:00pm. Signed up to work that evening so far are: Frank, Molly, Kim, and Carolyn. If anyone else can help that evening, please contact President Kim.

Other dates we have committed to are: Saturday- February 20th and Saturday- February 27th.

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday to Dave Burke on Saturday- January 30th!

District Mid-Winter Conference

The New England District Mid-Winter Conference will be held the weekend of March 5-7 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Worcester. Conference information and online registration is now available on the New England District web site.

International Convention

January 31st is the deadline to get the early bird registration rate of $195 for the International Convention being held in Las Vegas this year. The registration fee will increase to $250 after this date. We are hoping to have at least six club members attend the convention.
