The Kiwanis Club of The Seacoast
is sponsoring the annual Kittery Holiday Parade this year. The theme
of the parade is "A Season of Giving". The parade will
be take place on Saturday, December 4th. The parade will step off from Post Office
Square at 3PM, follow the traditional parade route through downtown Kittery,
and conclude at the John Paul Jones Park with the tree lighting. There will
also be a special appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Businesses, youth groups, community organizations
are encouraged to enter a float or marching group in the parade. Awards
will be given to the top entries in each group.
PLEASE READ: IF YOU ARE ENTERING A FLOAT IN THE
PARADE, YOU MUST COMPLY WITH THE FOLLOWING SAFETY PRECAUTIONS:
1. No Person may use or operate a vehicle or
float trailer unless they are equipped with wheel fenders to protect riders
and pedestrians from wheel assembly.
2. At least one adult other than the driver
shall supervise children riding outside of the driver compartment on vehicles
and floats.
3. Children riding on a vehicle or float shall
remain entirely within the perimeter of the vehicle and shall not be seated
with any part of their body extending over the side of the vehicle or float.
Children standing on vehicles or floats shall be reasonably protected from
probable injury if the vehicle suddenly starts or stops, i.e. hold on ropes,
padded objects, hold on rails or safety belts, etc.
4. At no time will candy and other objects
be thrown by people riding on vehicles or floats- adults may walk along
the sides of vehicles or floats to throw candy to the crowd.
